1933  (1934)  "It's a French dish," I was told, "but the English are crazy over it. Years ago when they met at the homes for a dance they'd always have rappé pie, or, if there was ever a quilting-match, there'd always be rappé pie."
1951  Rapee pie (Tarte à la râpure)--Acadian dish: 12 large potatoes; 3 large onions; 5 lb. chicken, or black duck, or rabbit; 1/2 lb. pure lard; salt and pepper.
